What is the Florida 4-Hour BDI Course?

The Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) course is a state-approved 4-hour traffic school course. It can be used to dismiss a traffic citation, reduce points on your driving record, or fulfill a court order. For official eligibility, please refer to the FLHSMV Guidelines:

How long do I have to complete the course?

You can complete the course at your own pace. There is no deadline, but you must finish before your court date. The minimum time to complete is 4 hours per Florida FLHSMV requirements.

Will my completion be reported to the FLHSMV

Yes. Upon successful completion, your results are submitted electronically to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). You will receive a certificate number to provide to the court.

Can I take this course on my phone?

Yes! The course works on any device — computer, tablet, or smartphone. You can start on one device and continue on another.

What if I fail the final exam?

You can retake the final exam as many times as needed at no additional cost.
