Emergency Vehicles

ANYONE using the roads u2013 vehicles of all kinds, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestriansu00a0 u2013 must yield to any law enforcement, ambulance, or fire department vehicle displaying flashing lights and/or sounding sirens. Immediately pull to the side of the road closest to you until the vehicle passes you. Never pull over if you will block an intersection. If safe to do so, pull into the intersection, turn to the left or right, and then off to the side of the road. When the emergency vehicle is beyond your location, signal and carefully pull back into traffic. And one more helpful tip: Many times if there’s one emergency responder there will be more. Be extra attentive for the next several minutes after an emergency responder passes you. Finally, emergency vehicles not using lights or sirens are treated just like any other vehicle.
